Project Information: A Tuscan style estate home and carriage house at Pebble Beach, California. Darrell James functioned as the primary design architect and project manager in collaboration with Hornberger + Worstell Architects of San Francisco. The client is a business executive, one of the world's foremost tycoons and philanthropists and maintains homes in London, Switzerland and Hong Kong. He holds the titles of Officer of the Legion of Honor by the government of France and a Commander of the Order of Léopold II of Belgium. He was awarded a knighthood, as a Knight Bachelor, in the Queen's Birthday Honours List on 11 June 2005. He is also a helicopter pilot and a collector of vintage cars. The collection is displayed in an enviromentally controlled 7,800 square foot carriage house. The collection of rare automobiles frequently featured at the annual Concours de Elegance at Pebble Beach includes a Type 57 Bugatti, a 1932 Phantom II Thrupp & Maberly, a 1934 Hispano-Suiza J12 Van Vooren Cabriolet, a 1969 P400 S Miura Lamborghini, a Ferrai 250 Spyder and a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost.
